1st Energy is an Australian energy retailer offering electricity plans for residential customers and businesses in VIC, NSW, QLD and TAS. They do not offer gas services, and they do not operate in WA, ACT, SA or NT. 

1st Energy is a straight-forward energy retailer - they don’t offer complex discounts or incentives - just simple plans and low rates. The energy retailer also pays feed-in tariffs to customers for energy generated through solar panels and sent back to the grid.

1st Energy plans compared

1st Energy offers one market electricity plan in most states, and two in VIC and TAS. They also offer the standing or default offer relative to each state. Plans include:

  • 1st Saver: 1st Energy’s basic plan, available in every state they operate in and featuring simple, low rates 
  • Prepaid value: VIC customers can choose this plan and receive additional discounts by prepaying $1,000 
  • 1st Solar Bonus: Additional 5 cents/kWh solar feed-in benefit (TAS only) 
  • 1st Plus: Receive $50 credit after six months and another $50 after 12 months (TAS only)

Each 1st Energy residential energy plan also features:

  • A 10-day cooling-off period

1st Energy is an Australian energy retailer offering both electricity and gas in VIC, and electricity only in NSW, QLD and TAS. They offer a range of four simple plans, including:

  • 1st Saver: Simple, low prices. No-fuss. Available in all states. 
  • Prepaid Value: Prepay $1,000 to receive a 16% discount off electricity. VIC only.

If you’re in VIC, QLD, TAS or NSW you can get electricity with 1st Energy. 1st Energy also offers gas in Victoria. They do not operate in NT, ACT, SA or WA.

Does 1st Energy offer business energy plans?


Yes. 1st Energy offers standard energy plans for businesses for electricity only.

Does 1st Energy buy solar from its customers?


Yes. 1st Energy offers retailer-funded feed-in tariffs. However, these plans will vary between states and plans so you should always confirm with 1st Energy on the feed-in tariff amount before switching plans.

How do I switch to 1st Energy?


To switch to 1st Energy choose a plan and simply call them, or complete the online sign-up form and they’ll switch you over on the next meter-read date (can take up to 90 days).
